Tensile testing machine test method

A tensile testing machine is an important laboratory instrument for evaluating the mechanical properties of materials.

The following steps and precautions provide a general testing workflow. Always follow the applicable material standard and the operating manual supplied with the machine.

1. Preparation before testing

1. Check the power supply, load sensor and related components. Confirm that the machine operates correctly and that calibration is valid.

2. Prepare specimens that comply with the applicable standard. Keep specimen dimensions consistent and complete any required conditioning or pretreatment.

3. Select suitable grips so that the specimen can be held securely without slipping or premature damage.

2. Test procedure

1. Mount the specimen in the grips, check alignment and tighten the grips securely.

2. Set the test parameters in the control system, including test speed, initial load and any required displacement limits.

3. Start the test, monitor the data and record force and displacement throughout the test.

3. After the test

1. When the test is complete, record and save the final data.

2. Use the software to generate the test report and evaluate the required material-performance indicators.

4. Precautions

1. Maintain the test environment within the temperature and humidity range specified by the applicable standard.

2. Condition or dry specimens as required by the material standard. Take appropriate safety precautions when specimens contain solvents.

3. Maintain and calibrate the machine at the required intervals to preserve measurement accuracy.
